Brightfield:
Brightfield microscopy is the simplest of all the optical microscopy illumination techniques. Sample illumination is transmitted (i.e., illuminated from below and observed from above) white light and contrast in the sample is caused by absorbance of some of the transmitted light in dense areas of the sample. Brightfield microscopy is the simplest of a range of techniques used for illumination of samples in light microscopes and its simplicity makes it a popular technique. The typical appearance of a brightfield microscopy image is a dark sample on a bright background.
The IM4100 microscope series is our entry level inverted metallurgical microscope with the same features as our research grade models. The IM4100 provides stability with its triangular footprint design. The IM4100 has excellent image clarity and superb resolution with high magnification and ergonomic operability with the option to add many accessories including digital cameras that have measuring and annotation software solutions.
Simple Polarizing Light:
Transverse wave light whose vibration possess direction is called polarized light. Light from an ordinary light source (natural light) that vibrates in random directions is called nonpolarized light. In contrast, while light with vertical vibration that travels within a single plane is called linearly polarized light, circularly polarized light and elliptically polarized light are types of light in which the vibration plane rotates forward.
The IM4100 has a 360° rotatable polarizing plate (polarizing filter) which is often used as the device to change natural light to linearly polarized light. The IM4100 Series has a slim wedge shaped design that saves bench space and offers excellent stability. It has drop down stage controls that are ergonomically positioned to provide comfort and ease of use for the operator. An integrated 6V, 30W vertical Koehler halogen illuminator with a variable intensity control and automatic voltage sensing power supply provides excellent specimen illumination and contrast. The IM4100 Series is designed to meet your most diverse needs for materials research. It is well suited for examination of mounted metallurgical specimens or for routine quality inspections such as micro-structure analysis, various materials testing, QA and QC examination and photomicrography. The IM4100 Series offers crisp, distortion-free, high resolution images (in multiple modes of operation) and has a built-in photo port (on the front of the body) which makes image documentation quick and easy. The series is also equipped with yellow, blue, green, and polarizing filters.
