Neurite Outgrowth recipe
The Neurite Outgrowth recipe detects cell bodies and traces neurite extensions in fluorescence images and provides a comprehensive suite of measurements for quantifying neurites

Quantify Neurites in Any Environment
The Neurite Outgrowth recipe in Meiji SVCell RS detects cell bodies and neurites in the same fluorescence image without requiring a nuclear dye to identify the individual cell body.
Simply load your image, set the presets, and apply. You will get two sets of detections -- one for the cell body and one for the neurites. Neurites and the relevant measurements (i.e. length, branch and end points) are associated with individual cells. Single cell data is important for understanding heterogeneous populations with mixed neuronal characteristics.
You can easily refine the detection results with the Recipe Console or use the editing tools to get a perfect result. Use Meiji SVCell’s powerful visualization tools to find the data that matters to you.

Recipe Highlights
No nuclear stain required
The recipe works on fluorescently-labeled neurons; the software finds the soma and the neurites automaticaly. A separate nuclear label is not required.
Detect Soma and neurites simultaneously
Meiji SVCell generates cell body and neurite detection output at the same time. Each neurite is associated with a unique soma, providing single cell data
Comprehensive neurite quantification
The recipe provides a comprehensive list of built-in measurements or create your own for custom analysis.

Results in challenging situations
The Neurite Outgrowth recipe uses advanced StructureGuided image processing techniques to remove image background and enhances neurite signals. The enhancement algorithm provides excellent balance of power and versatility for analyzing all your images, even if the image quality is sub-optimal.

You can easily tune the recipe processing parameters in the Recipe Console. With preview, you will get visual feedback on your image immediately as you modify the recipe. With Preset Analysis Levels, you can save your settings and re-use them for future analyses.

Find the data that matters most
Meiji SVCell comes with a wealth of measurements to quantify your experiment: both single neurite and single cell measurements such as neurite length, end point count, and cell area, as well as whole field measurements to quantify neurite changes over time.
Meiji SVCell has several chart types built-in. The data, chart, and image are all linked together to help you visualize your data and quickly identify interesting data points. Clicking on anyone of them hightlights the selected items in all - finding the data that matters has never been easier. Data and Charts are available for export.
