What It Does

Stereo zoom microscopes with detents are popular because the detent mechanism provides fixed, repeatable magnification positions that improve consistency, accuracy, and workflow efficiency during inspection and measurement tasks. A detent is a mechanical click-stop built into the zoom control, allowing the user to feel and lock into specific preset zoom levels instead of relying on a continuously smooth adjustment that may drift or be difficult to reproduce exactly. This is especially important in applications such as electronics repair, PCB inspection, watchmaking, biological dissection, industrial quality control, and microscopy photography, where users often need to return to the same magnification repeatedly or compare observations across multiple samples. Detents also help maintain calibration accuracy when measurement reticles, cameras, or digital imaging software are used, because the microscope can be reliably set to known magnification points that correspond to calibrated values. In teaching labs and production environments, they simplify communication and standardization since operators can quickly select a shared zoom setting without estimation. Although non-detented zoom microscopes offer smoother and infinitely variable magnification control, detented systems are preferred when precision, repeatability, and stable preset zoom positions are more valuable than continuous adjustment flexibility.

EMZ-5D: Microscope Head
The EMZ-5D body offers detent click-stops and delivers sharp, high-contrast images and an excellent zoom range of 6.5:1 that provides exceptionally high-resolution images all throughout the zoom range. The EMZ-5D employs Greenough optics, for improved image flatness and contrast. As a result, images are brighter and more distinct even at the periphery of the field of view. With the large zoom range, the EMZ-5D offers high resolution observation in precision-oriented semi-conductor, medical device and routine inspection. In addition to its compact design and versatility a wide variety of auxiliary lenses and stands are available to allow the user to customize their desired working distance to adapt to almost any application.

MA502: Eyepieces 
Included is the MA502 Super Widefield Eyepiece 10X (pair) with 25mm reticle mount Field No. 23.0, Eye Relief 16.0, Focal Length 25.0.

FS: Focus Block 
The FS Coarse Focus Block/Holder is a tilting focus holder with an integral adjustable illuminator port. It has a rack and pinion mount that allows smooth and precise focusing over 55mm of travel. The coarse focus mechanism incorporates a slip clutch and tension adjustment.

S-4600: Stand 
The S-4600 Table Clamp Boom Stand is Meiji Techno America’s most popular Ergonomic boom stand with a sturdy solid metal clamp to fit any industrial lab bench. Equipped with a pillar, crossarm and a 20mm drop down mounting post accepts F, FX or FC holders, (must be ordered separately) or focus blocks with a 20mm mounting hole which are commonly available from microscope manufacturers. Equipped with a 610mm (24.00”) vertical pole and a 530mm (20.86”) horizontal pole. The S-4600 table clamp boom stand offers minimal space requirement and greatest possible vertical post length in its series. The S-4600 can swing out of the way easily, clearing the workstation for other tasks. The horizontal arm can be moved freely left to right or can be securely locked into position with our T handle knobs. Extra length vertical posts are available in other models. The vertical column is used to compensate for taller specimen heights to accommodate the working distances of different microscope bodies. Anti-rotation is stabilized by a locking pin on the vertical post. The S-4600 Boom stand provides a comfortable amount of space for preparing mice, insects and other model organisms or semiconductor and electrical components. The S-4600 boom stand is designed for the zoom (EMZ Series), turret (EMT Series) and fixed (EMF Series) stereo bodies. This boom stand is affordable; low cost with high quality safety features makes this boom stand unmatched value in its class. This stand has ample height and long reach to work on an inspect small to large parts under the microscope. Ergonomic flexibility, chemical resistant paint finish and corrosion resistant stainless-steel columns makes this boom stand an excellent choice in labs and production facilities.
