What It Does

A stereo zoom microscope with a top light port is used when you need precise, shadow-free illumination directed straight down through the optics (called coaxial lighting), which is especially helpful for inspecting reflective or flat surfaces; people commonly use it in electronics (to examine solder joints and IC chips), precision machining (to spot scratches or tool wear), gemology (to see inclusions and polish quality), and materials science or semiconductor work (to detect micro-cracks, coatings, or fine patterns), because this type of lighting reveals details that angled lights like ring lights can miss.

EMZ-8UD: Binocular Microscope Head + MA502: Eyepieces + F: Focus Block + SAS-1: Stand

 

EMZ-8UD: Microscope Head
The EMZ-8UD has a special inlet for a single arm fiber optic light guide which allows illumination to be paralleled to the optic path; it is also designed for observing objects that are normally difficult to see under oblique incident-light illumination such as holes or cracks, scratches on metal surfaces, IC chips and liquid crystal patterns. The EMZ-8UD is designed for high-contrast images and has an excellent zoom range of 6.5:1 that is parfocalled all throughout the zoom range. It also includes Greenough optics for improved image flatness and contrast which results in brighter images at the periphery of the field of view. With the large zoom range, the EMZ-8UD offers high resolution observation in precision-oriented semi-conductor, medical device and routine inspection. In addition to its compact design and versatility, a wide variety of auxiliary lenses and stands are available to allow the user to customize their desired working distance to adapt to almost any application.

MA502: Eyepieces 
Included is the MA502 Super Widefield Eyepiece 10X (pair) with 25mm reticle mount Field No. 23.0, Eye Relief 16.0, Focal Length 25.0.

F: Focus Block 
The F holder is a focusing holder with a rack and pinion mount that allows smooth, precise focusing over 55mm of travel. Coarse focus mechanism incorporates a slip clutch and tension adjustment. Fits 20mm diameter, 71mm long mounting post. The 84.2mm diameter opening accepts all EM Series stereo bodies.

SAS-1: Stand 
Our heavy-duty SAS-1 can tilt and swivel microscope mount allows the scope to swivel 360 degrees around a vertical axis and to tilt from vertical to horizontal positions. In spite of its flexibility, this heavy-duty mount can still securely lock the microscope in any orientation, even when loaded down with a large camera system. This mount also features a friction adjustment on the tilting motion to prevent the unexpected “flip-over” of the microscope upon release of the tilting lock. The sturdy solid metal 13-inch x 13-inch x 1.5-inch base (approx. 60 lbs.) with rubber feet provides excellent stability. Focusing holders for SAS-1 can be found on the accessories page.
