Brightfield:
The simplest of all the optical microscopy illumination techniques. Sample illumination is incident (i.e. illumination from above and observed from above) or transmitted (i.e., illuminated from below and observed from above) white light and contrast in the sample is caused by absorbance of some of the transmitted light in dense areas of the sample. Brightfield microscopy is the simplest of a range of techniques used for illumination of samples in light microscopes and its simplicity makes it a popular technique. The typical appearance of a brightfield microscopy image is a dark sample on a bright background.
Polarizing Light:
A type of optical microscopy techniques involving polarized light. Simple techniques include illumination of the sample with polarized light. Directly transmitted light can, optionally, be blocked with a polarizer orientated at 90° degrees to the illumination. More complex microscopy techniques which take advantage of polarized light include differential interference contrast microscopy and interference reflection microscopy.
The MT9920 & MT9930 Series Incident and Transmitted Polarizing Microscope is an investigative tool for isotropic and anistropic materials. This series is the most suited in generating interference figures and in mineralogy in the scientific study of crystal structure and physical (including optical) properties of minerals. Specific studies include process of mineral origin and formation, classification of minerals, their geographic distribution as well as their utilization. Ergonomic placement of controls allows for stress free operation, increased lab efficiency and maximum productivity. Incident and Transmitted 6V 30W Koehler Halogen illuminator or LED Koehler illuminator with newly engineered high performance optics strain free ? Infinity Corrected objectives reduce internal strain to an absolute minimum. Our redesigned polarizing condensers with a swing out top lens helps maximize the field of view with lower power objectives to enhance performance in polarized light, yielding unmatched image contrast, provide exceptionally bright, crisp images with good color rendition and superior flat fields of view. Intermediate tube with a built in focusable Bertrand lens and a rotatable Analyzer greatly increases the quality of the image along with a compensator slot and rotatable polarizer with full wave plate.
The MT9920 & MT9930 Series microscopes are used in research, industry and training in many scientific fields such as:
• Environmental Research – Analysis of materials, dust and fiber
• Medicine and Biology – Determining composition of calculi, sediments and bio-crystallates
• Forensics – Identification of trace elements and materials such as explosives
• Materials Analysis – Metal, ceramics, glass, building materials, etc.
• Geology – Mineralogy, petrography, core drilling sample analysis, thin section identification
• Chemistry – Quality control of in-process or end products, compounds, pharmaceutical analysis and identification of precipitates
The MT9920 & MT9930 Incident and Transmitted Light Series is a suitable instrument for most applications in Geology, Petrology, Mineralogy, Toxicology, Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Medicine, Pulp/Paper, Atmospheric Pollution, Ceramics Technology, Forensic Medicine, etc.
