SMD Inspection System Stereo Microscopes

SMD (SURFACE MOUNT DEVICE) SERIES, SMT (SURFACE MOUNT TECHNOLOGY) SERIES AND MDM (MEDICAL DEVICE MANUFACTURING) SERIES BOOM STAND INSPECTION SYSTEM ZOOM STEREO MICROSCOPES

SMT & SMD and Medical Device Manufacturing Boom Stand Zoom Stereo Microscope Inspection system is Meiji Techno America’s complete turnkey microscope package, based on our EMZ Series microscopes. Those who must work to the most demanding standards of the SMT and SMD industries and Medical Device Manufacturing (MDM) facilities require a microscope system for assembly, repair, inspection and Quality Control.

The SMT & SMD Inspection Series and Medical Device Manufacturing Series is equipped with Meiji Techno’s most versatile Boom Stand which can be adjusted vertically or horizontally and side to side to address the ergonomic needs of every production or test engineer. Equipped with an auxiliary lens which gives the user over 6 inches of working distance. This allows ample working room to allow the engineers to solder and work on PCB boards and inspect Medical Stents or any Medical Device being inspected without compromising Ergonomics.

Surface-mount Technology (SMT) is a method for producing electronic circuits in which the components are mounted or placed directly on to the surface of printed circuit boards (PCB’s). An electronic device so made is called Surface-mount Device (SMD). In the industry it has largely replaced the through-hole technology construction method of fitting components with wire leads into holes in the circuit board. Since both technologies can be used on the same board, with the through-hole technology used for components not suitable for surface mounting such as large transformers and heat-sinked power semiconductors. SMT component is usually smaller than its through hole counterpart because it has either smaller leads or no leads at all. It may have short pins or leads of various styles, flat contacts, or a matrix of solder balls (BGA’s) or termination on the body of the component.

Meiji Techno America offers a variety of illuminations as an option because where components are to be placed, the printed circuit board normally has flat, usually tin-lead silver or gold plated copper pads without holes, called solder pads. Our Inspection Series allows the boards to be visually inspected for missing or misaligned components and solder bridging, if needed, they are sent to a rework station where a Meiji Techno Microscope system is used to inspect errors and repaired by a human operator . They are sent to the testing stations (in-circuit testing and/or functional testing) to verify that they operate correctly. Defective surface-mount components can be repaired by using our stereo zoom systems by using soldering irons (for some connections) , or using a non contact rework system. In most cases a rework system is the better choice because SMD work with a soldering iron requires and excellent Optical Microscope quality and considerable skill.

Medical Device Manufacturing (MDM) requires accurately documenting, inspecting and analyzing information accurately and efficiently in your R&D division. Meiji Techno America’s medical Device systems allow you to have a Japanese quality Optical system to help in aid in your next life saving technology.

Since the Medical Device Industry is a highly regulated and stringent in quality control and assurance and failure analysis it is critical for a test engineer to be able to see and validate the product without fail. Medicated Stents, catheters, guidewires, Angio balloons , neurological stents requires efficient assembly, inspection and documentation with the highest level of accuracy. Meiji Techno’s Boom Inspection system improves production throughput especially with repetitive tasks by reducing the technician’s eye strain with ergonomics in mind to aid in high precision inspection. Doctors are always trying to come up with new ways to prevent arteries from re-closing after an angioplasty or stent procedure. In recent years, doctors have used new types of stents. Some of these are coated with medicines that help keep the vessel from re-closing. These coated stents slowly release their medicine into the tissue around the stent, slowing down or stopping restenosis. Coated stents have shown promise for improving the long-term success of this procedure.

Researchers are also designing smaller stents and custom-designed stents, which will fit into smaller vessels. They are also designing stents for vessels that have many blockages, including vessels with side branches. Other stents are being coated with blood-thinning medicines to prevent blood clots from forming within the stent. Most recently, researchers have begun developing non-metal stents that will dissolve into the artery over time. These stents open the artery, giving the same results as metal stents, but reduce the risk of restenosis because they do not stay in the artery. Meiji Techno America offers a large variety of configured and customizable solutions to meet your imaging needs, tailored solutions for your budget and application. Enhanced ergonomics and worker comfort for Medical Device Inspection and re-work achieves a higher throughput and better workflow with comfort and accuracy in mind for higher efficiency.
